“I insist on not being sad”

This 2-page comic came to mind after a poem with the same name from Portuguese songwriter, Zeca Afonso. Zeca, his music and lyrics are one of Portuguese democracy symbols, because of the nature of his words. He was an activist against Portugal´s dictatorship and this specific poem “I insist on not being sad”, made me think of taking a stand against hardships and challenges. Not letting anyone abuse you, making a life for your own, struggle with adversities and getting over tough times with your own effort and resolve. With sweat and sacrifice, you’ll get there.
